Finding and Following Jesus Together in Our Neighborhood
You found our website! Feel free to look around and discover a little bit more about who we are and what we're about.
If you have any questions or want to connect, email us at hello@gloverpark.church.
This is a fun event for the Glover Park Community. We have a short service & egg hunt.
The service is about 15 minutes long and includes reading the Easter Story from a kid bible, singing Amazing Grace, and praying together. The egg hunt has 3000+ eggs, a space for little kids, and lots of candy!
Our group doesn't have an Easter Morning Service... but there are lots of great churches in the city. We'd encourage you to check out National Presbyterian, National UMC, District Church, Christ City Church, National Community Church, Grace Capital City, or Table Church.
In essense, every Christian church is a group of people following Jesus. Churches also have unique visions, values, gatherings, and distinctives.
Finding and following Jesus together in our neighborhood.
Jesus is central. We're a church that believes following Jesus is the center of Christian faith.
Everyone is invited. We seek to be a community of belonging and inclusiveness.
Care for the neighborhood. We live in Glover Park and focus on Glover Park.
We all help out. We believe Church is a team sport.
Keep it simple. We keep it simple, so we can keep main things, main things.
Glover Park Church is a place where you can belong before you believe. The Nicene Creed expresses the basics of the beliefs that ground all we do. It's been around for almost 2000 years!
We gather to practice our faith together. There are some core ideas we remember every time we gather, as well as unique monthly rhythms to help us develop a wholistic faith.
Every week we remind ourselves of 3 things:
God is love, so it's all about love.
Jesus is God, so we follow Jesus.
God is up to something, so we pay attention.
Worship isn't confined to once a week gathering, it's anything we do to follow Jesus by loving God and loving others. We believe that following Jesus should happen in gathered spaces (like a church service or bible study) and in scattered spaces (like caring for your neighbor or volunteering). So, we have 2 monthly gatherings, and we encourage people to get together throughout the month to worship in other ways.
6pm at Point Chaud
To grow in community and in our faith, we eat dinner and go through a liturgy that includes scripture, prayers, songs, readings, and encouragement.
6pm at the Clark's
To grow in community and engage our mind in our faith, we eat dinner and study a chapter of the Bible around 4 questions: 1) What does is say? 2) What does it mean? 3) Why does it matter? 4) If it's true, what do I do?
